Top 7 = Sushi night + draft of Stronger (the newest book)

blog top 7 Jul 04, 2022

Sushi night with Emma + the draft of the new book made the Top 7 for last week…

Fitness = Press “play” every day + 2 long runs

Great week working out at the house… and two good, long weekend runs as well.

Finance = Projects in + 1 year ago, copyright infringement

This week we started two new projects…

https://www.amplifyonline.info is the new “front” we launched to do this— after receiving several requests from people who saw “my stuff” and wanted to know if we could help them finish / launch / promote / publish / etc., their stuff in the same way….

The past 365 days has been a whirlwind + struggle + beautiful synergy all in one.

Just over a year ago, the OilyApp crew took my stuff, bootlegged it (as in literally grabbed screenshots of my slides from their computer as they watched me teach the Soul Wholeness course), re-shot it using MY words, and edited it back in with my slides on top of them…

That— and they left an open invoice without paying.

Why did it happen?

In short, because Oola was launching…

… and Young Living, in typical Young Living fashion, went into “search and destroy mode” of anything that might even look like less than 100% allegiance to them and them alone.

Bizarre.

Alas, I had to get an attorney involved.

And I had to move on. I couldn’t just sit and wait for them to “do the right thing,” whatever that might be. It was obvious— clearly— they weren’t. They legit stole my words, ideas, parts of my story…

Ugh.

🀷‍♂️

Moving forward…

If it hadn’t transpired like it did— literally, OilyApp yanking the rug out from under me, leaving us in a financial lurch, I would have continued working with them.

And I would have been content.

And I would have been developing courses and videos and books in the natural health space (and some in the emotional wholeness sphere), and NOT had the time to create some of the content I developed over the past year.

❌ LifeLift— the workbook, the book, and the four smaller books— would still be in the vault

❌ The videos for LifeLift never would have been shot

❌ The online assessments would never have seen the light of day

❌ The app I’ve been developing… nope

❌ The Purpose book, which was a spin off from LifeLift… wouldn’t exist.

❌ Stronger and the new resources for men… non-existent

❌ The updated Advance Planner (which you can download free) would not have been created— I had to do it when the OilyApp guys kept my old planner, tossing it somewhere in their closets

And…

❌ The new projects I’ve been able to take on… wouldn’t have ever gotten done. Those were all generated from interest in some of the projects listed above…

That first month or two was a whammy. We lived off savings, as the OilyApp guys continued selling my stuff (and keeping the πŸ’°), as they left invoices owed to me unpaid, etc…

Yet now, I look and see an income that has multiplied FAR ABOVE anything made with them— all in a year’s time.

Family = Friday night sushi

Friday, Emma and I had the house to ourselves.

“You hungry?” I asked.

She was- but was just rolling in from her art studio.

“Let’s go get something— in about an hour,” she suggested.

So…

… sushi. One of our favs.

Here’s the pic from Jinsei, where we split about three rolls, two appetizers…

Here’s what I liked most: due to schedules and her age, Emma and I NEVER get to spend time together. And, it would have been easier for me to veg in front of the TV— and easier for her (after a long week of painting and creating) to just take a shower and call it a night.

But the best stuff happens when you just lean in, live in the moment, and connect…

Field = lunch + showed Jaron some hacks

This week I grabbed Jaron (I’ll introduce you to him at some point in the future), rolled through Big Bad Breakfast, and then took him back to the Hilltop to show him some web hacks and online publishing short-cuts.

Faith = Stronger / draft

This week I finished the draft of Stronger— a forthcoming book about leadership, particularly in the family, for men.

I’ve had the notes for this in the pipeline for years, but they’ve never made it out of the vault.

Recently, a pastor asked me to speak about this in his church— for a few nights— so I rolled back through the old stuff. Just to see what’s there.

“This is pretty solid,” I thought.

I also decided this would help me during this season. Generally, I write about things I’m wanting to learn and explore and grow in— not areas where I’ve “arrived.”

The act of the study and the typing and creating the graphics and pulling the project together— in a focused way— propels me forward in that subject. And, as I get to choose the topics, I’m always interested and able to maintain focus.

When the book is ready, I’ll post / email a link where you can check the audiobook / eBook at no charge.

Friends = Michael + wrestling

One of my friends from high school dropped by this week, middle of the week.

Fun = Sunday Fun-day

After church last Sunday, Beth and I grabbed lunch, then scooted to a movie. The Elvis flick.

This was a great pause, as it had been an emotional roller coaster of a week (all stuff for another time / place to post).

Ahh… here’s a bonus pics of Salter. He decided he’d like to sleep on the couch. Posting it here, because he likes to see himself making the Top 7.

That’s the highlight reel for the week. As you know by now— if you’ve been here before— I try to crank these out once a week.

I sit down at some point each weekend, ideally on a Sunday afternoon, while planning the week ahead and doing my weekly review of the week behind, and make a few notes. The planner I use— which I designed for the Advance workshops I led for a season— contains journaling prompts for each day where I, generally, jot down 3 things I’m grateful for (as well as some things I could have done better, etc.).

You can download the planner free at www.Jenkins.tv/FreePlannerPDF.

Or, purchase it in our online store at https://www.thehilltop.shop/product-page/advance-planner
