I/S = Inspirational + Shepherd

From LifeLift Assessment A = The DISC Profile

I/S (blue, yellow) people fall completely on the “people” side of our chart and embrace people.

They influential counselors who love others, and it’s no surprise that people love them.

They live to please and serve, and they tend to be good listeners.

Looking good and encouraging others is important to them, as is following through and being obedient.

Here’s the weakness— they often lack in the area of organization and can be more concerned with the people involved than they are with the task at hand.

However, they can be center stage or behind the scenes with equal effectiveness, and they shine when it comes to influencing and helping others.

Let’s summarize:

  • Inspirational and shepherding, I/S loves to hang out and may very well be the life of the party
  • They are hospitable, so they make great team members. But, since they fall on the “people” side of our chart, they don’t tend to see ANY part of the project / task at hand— and may not get too much done
  • They’re influential, and can easily stand centerstage OR thrive behind the scenes
  • They shine when it comes to helping others

Biblical example

Barnabas (see Acts 4, 9, 11-15), who sold and field and gave the money to the Early Church, when it was struggling as the needs of orphans and widows was massive. He later traveled Paul on a missionary venture, after encoring the former persecutor of the church to the other disciples. He picked-up a broken John Mark when he bailed on Paul’s first missionary trip.

In other words, Barnabas, called the “Son of Encouragement” was pivotal in both Paul and Mark’s ministries. Paul wrote the most books of the Bible and planted the most (known) churches; Mark penned the first Gospel. Barnabas was, arguably, the wind beneath the wings of both.
