Blog: Top 7 = #75Hard continues, met biz goals early, kids + fun

top 7 Jul 05, 2021

This week I pushed into week 2 of the #75HardChallenge, finished the first month (a short one) of our new Oola biz, and spent a bunch of time with the kids…

(Above = a pic on the bike ride I did this weekend.)

🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌

Fitness = I continued the #75Hard Challenge this week… making it into the “teens.”

Over the past two weeks, with no added sugar (no snacks, sweets = part of my chosen meal plan) AND no alcohol…

🔥 my mind has been clearer

🔥 I’ve felt less sluggish

And…

🔥 I’m sleeping better (probably has a LOT to do with the workouts, as well).

This week, I got caught by the rain a few times. As I did it hit me—

❌ how often we let the weather dictate what we’ll do with our days (i.e., I can’t run today because it’s raining)

❌ how many excuses we make for things (I.e., it’s raining, so I won’t run… but I don’t mind getting wet on my way into the mall, on the way to work, etc…)

On this challenge, you commit to persisting, regardless…

… and that’s confirmed the power of making pre-determined decisions about things we ALREADY know we’ll face.

I wrote about this a bit in by book Advance— about removing the “brain power” required for something by ALREADY decided what the answer is… in advance…

(Examples: already deciding that when faced with fast food you’ll opt for the salad, you’ve already decided to put a 24-hour wait on responding to punchy emails, you’ve already decided not to start a movie / TV show after a certain time at night, you’ve already decided to say “yes” if a kid asks you to do something and there’s not a reason ON THE CALENDAR right then that you can’t, etc.)

Finance = we finished the first month of the #1B7 project with Oola this past month…

I’ve talked a bit about it— hit and miss— but haven’t just come out and voiced it…

Beth + I are founding Brand Ambassadors for Oola’s new #1B7 digital platform…

⭐️

Oola is about finding balance— and growth— in the seven key areas of life (Fitness, Finance, Family, Faith, Field, Friends, & Fun), while living with less stress…

… so that we can live our purpose.

The digital framework uniquely bends to you— and then pushes you forward by providing you with curated videos and suggestions specifically for you.

The daily tracker— on an app— marks your progress, checks daily streaks, and provides built-in accountability (and celebration) for your progress.

⭐️

The product is AMAZING, and…

There is a business opportunity available if you’re interested (it’s certainly not required).

⭐️

This week I outlined + posted some info on a Men’s Mastermind I’m doing with a team of other leaders, using the #1B7 / Design My Life Blueprint platform… info at www.Jenkins.tv/men

And…

We created more business training, for an on-ramp for people who WANT to not only help people find their purpose + live with less stress BUT ALSO earn an income— anywhere from just getting the product for free to a side hustle to a full-time income stream…

⭐️

This week the product launches globally— 7/7— so we’re in a significant place, an open door…

… if you’d like to be “in” on the ground floor, we’ve got a place for you…

Got questions?

Want to know more?

PM me…

… we can have a no-pressure, no-expectation convo and see if this is right for you.

Family = Beth & I “bubble-wrapped” just about everything else in life for the past two months to focus on the Oola project…

We set a few goals and, with a LOT of work and a MASSIVE dose of grace, were able to double that goal, by placing both of our organizations at a significant rank in the biz… in the first 21 days.

(We literally achieved more in 21 days than we did with a previous company in over a year.)

So, once we received an email from corporate on the 1st of July with some confirmations and green lights, we took a collective pause.

I took the boys to the movies…

I took Mini to the mall (you know, shoes, trampoline jump, pretzels, etc., as well as our obligatory pic-in-the-mirror).

Ahhh… and here’s the trampoline.

🚌

Field = See Finance above….

🚌

Faith = Summer Blast (like Vacation Bible School, but next level)…

Summer in the South, at least, means church day camps for kids… otherwise known as Vacation Bible School.

I MADE Salter attend the one at Highlands, right around the corner from the house.

The first day is always, “Ugh… do I have to get up and go?!”

Then, once I pick him up, I know he’ll say, “That was AWESOME— can we come back tomorrow!?”

So, I FORCE him to go the first day…

Three days of fun, three days of faith, three days of friends…

Big win for him.

Here’s the pic on the way out, final day…

In his left hand = a Rubik’s knock off all the kids received. Less than 5 minutes later, it was completely messed up. I’ve been tasked by him, of solving it— placing it back together.

In my entire childhood I was never able to solve a SINGLE cube… max for me was two sides. And that was with a LOT of mental strain.

I was honest with him, “I’ll be you a book. Pay you a cash prize if you read it and learn to solve it.”

We’ll see what happens…

🚌

Friends = I failed to grab a pic…

… but this week I grabbed dinner with my pal Don— a man who’s been in my corner for, well, almost a decade now.

I met him years ago when I was teaching a Thursday night Bible study at the Birmingham Dream Center— a gathering that eventually grew to 250+, had a weekly cookout, and more…

After that season ended, Don and I stayed in touch. And, he’s been one of those friends whom you can see once a week OR once every 3 or 6 months and instantly pick back up right where you left off…

I’m convinced…

Even on the weeks when we’re tired…

Even during the seasons when it’s easier to just hibernate…

Even when we just want to go in, chill out, and relax… after a long day…

… that there are very few things which can fuel your soul like friends that have been around for the long haul.

You can ALWAYS make new friends. But there’s something about seasoned relationships that have weathered the ups and downs and missteps and right steps and everything else…

🚌

Fun = I took the boys to see my brother, Matthew, Thursday night. A banker by day, Matthew works a LOT of side hustles…

During this season, he tends the fireworks stand at Perrin’s on 280. So, we drove by— on the way to grab Chik-fil-A for the fam.

The boys walked away with FREE bottle-rockets and a two flaming chickens of some sort…

And, yes, when you light them, sparks fly out of the chicken’s torso (vertically) and the balloon— in the animal’s anus— blows up.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

That’s the highlight reel for the week— all based on the seven areas of Oola (go to www.Jenkins.tv/app  to learn more about the 7 areas), all written in my Advance planner, as part of my daily review (download it free at www.Jenkins.tv/FreePlannerPDF)
