This video comes from Lesson 18 in LifeLift, where we begin unifying the three foundational areas, the keys to unlock your purpose.

⭐️ Instructional Obedience = the areas God has already spoken, clearly outlining His will for our lives

⭐️ Created Design = our "first birth" or "natural birth," that is, everything that "came as part of the package when we were born-- including our talents, our personality, and our unique way of viewing circumstances

⭐️ Spiritual Gifts = the ways God moves through us, supernaturally, to impact the world at a level that far exceeds anything we can ask, think, or imagine possible in our own strength.

Discovering your purpose includes working through the areas of instructional obedience, your natural talents + created design, and— then— your spiritual gifts, which is the path we take in LifeLift.

Key 1. Instructional Obedience = What has God already clearly told me to do?

In this video you'll learn that obedience includes both right thinking and right living (the "right thinking" part is why we begin with Identity as the topic of Part 1 in LifeLift).

We also outline two questions which helps us discern our degree of “instructional obedience.” Furthermore, these aren't "one and done" questions. They're topics we need to consider consistently.

One of the primary reasons we begin with instructional obedience is, quite simply, this: Spiritual gifts do not guarantee we’ll act with maturity.

(You've probably seen enough evidence to KNOW FIRSTHAND this to be true.)

Note: the first two areas involve our "first birth"-- our flesh-- as the graphic below highlights.

Key 2. Created design + natural talents = How has God uniquely created me?

This second foundation is an area where we begin expressing our individuality. Think about it-- the areas of Instructional Obedience, for the most part, are the same for all of us. For certain, there are some matters throughout Scripture which are a matter of conscience, but most of us even agree that THOSE areas allow for freedom...

Even though the "will of God" in the general sense is the same for all of us (i.e., in lesson 10 we discuss it's God's will for us to all be saved, sanctified, Spirit-filled, submissive, and serving), the ways He created us are all different.

And that's by intention.

Two more questions help us define our purpose even more.

(And, we highlight two Biblical examples that show us “the call” in action.)

As we place these two areas together, along with the third (see the image below), we begin to further define our purpose.

Key 3. Spiritual gifts = Where has He supernaturally empowered me?

It's important to remember this: even though LifeLift contains five assessments, we don't just “take a test” and start here, at the area of the supernatural. We done the deeper work.

(And, we’re don't simply rely on the results of an assessment, as you’ll see in a moment.

All three of these areas matter.

And, they all work together in a synergistic way.

All working together

Notice that without Instructional Obedience, our actions all out of bound of the Kingdom of God.

And apart from acknowledging our Created Design, our activities cease to celebrate the unique form God intentionally gives each of us.

Of course, apart from utilizing our Spiritual Gifts, we negate the supernatural power God invitees us to lean into, the power that raised Jesus from the dead and now fuels us to perform at a level that far exceeds our natural capacity.

Each of these areas are important. Furthermore, they're synergistic-- that is, the "result" of them working together is greater than the mere "sum of the three parts."

How do you know...?

Finally, in this video we conclude with five "F" questions that help you discern if you're in the area of your purpose. After watching the video, you'll understand how each of the following are important.

  1. Faithful = Do I consistently show up to serve?
  2. Followship = Do I sincerely sense like I’m obeying Christ when I serve in this area?
  3. Fruitful = What is the result of my service in this area?
  4. Fulfillment = Do I enjoy serving in this area?
  5. Friends = What do others say about my service?

In conclusion, celebrate this!

✅ You were created-- intentionally-- by God for a purpose.

✅ The same grace that saves you IS ALSO the same grace that empowers you to walk into the great works, the purpose, God designed with you in mind (see Ephesians 2:8-10).

✅ There are resources available to help you find + fulfill that purpose, confirming the voice of the Holy Spirit which you have full access to (John 10:27).
