Hospitality = open hearts + open doors = supernatural welcome

From LifeLift Assessment D = Spiritual Gifts

The gift of hospitality is the divine strength or ability to create warm, welcoming environments for others in places such as your home, office, or church.

In 1 Peter 4:8f, we read that we should (NIV, emphasis added)—

… love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

Whereas we should all practice hospitality, some people have a supernatural ability to create sacred space, wherever they are, in such a way that people feel pulled in close and loved.

When we studied created design, we noted that some people have a bent towards mercy (design 7, day 7 of creation-- see the link below). Many times you’ll find that these same people also have a supernatural gift of hospitality.

Furthermore, people with the gift of hospitality can be extroverts OR introverts— just as we saw in the DISC + Colors personality profile.

We shouldn’t presume that someone with the gift of hospitality will always create an environment that “looks” Instagram-worthy. Sometimes, such pristine places can be uncomfortable. Rather the person sets the mood— not the place— and creates a supernatural sense of welcome.
