D = Dominant, Direct, Decisive
From LifeLift Assessment A = The DISC Profile
High-D personality-types get things done!
The D (red) type is outward (read: extroverted) and prioritizes projects over people.
Direct and decisive; they are risk takers and problem solvers. They are more concerned with completing tasks and winning than they are with gaining approval from people.
Though the internal drive tends to make them insensitive to those around them, Ds are not afraid to challenge the status quo, and they thrive when it comes to developing new things.
They need discipline to excel, and they respond to direct confrontation.
The greatest fear of a “D” is to be taken advantage of (they have been in the past, because they can get results), and even despite their possible weaknesses—which include an aversion to routine, a tendency to overstep authority, an argumentative nature, and a habit of taking on too much—they place a high value on time and use their innovative thinking to accomplish difficult tasks and conquer challenges.
Let’s summarize:
- Dominant, direct, decisive, and task-oriented (i.e., they want to WIN whatever game they’re playing— and there’s no sense in playing unless you’re keeping score)
- Thrives on challenging the status quo (and will often tell you a “better way” to do whatever it is that’s being done
- High-achiever who gets things done (note: we often depend on Ds to get results— then get frustrated with them when they do!)
- Weaknesses = doesn’t like routines, oversteps rules and authority (sometimes even thinking they’re above it), and often takes on too much
- Must work on prioritizing people over the latest project
