Video: You were created to be well

health + healing video Feb 21, 2017

I read an interesting quote from a pastor back when I was studying to create The Healing Workshop:

"God's desire isn't for you to be healed; His desire is for you to be so healthy you won't need to be healed" (Dr. / Pastor Henry Wright).

Sounds odd, but when we really get into it and start uncovering what's in the Bible, we learn something amazing. Health was always God's design. So was healing.

Things started this way + they end this way

Maybe that's why there were "leaves for healing" in Genesis 1:29 (the Hebrew word, oklah, which is translated as "food" in that passage literally means "food and medicines").

In other words, that verse actually reads: "Every seed bearing plant... I give you for food and healing."

Maybe that's also why healing exists in Heaven. John writes that "The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations" in Revelation 22:2.

Ezekiel says the same thing (47:12). The tree of life bears fruit for food... and healing. Even in Heaven.

Get that: before sin came and after its completely eradicated, healing happens. Perhaps we were created to choose life, to live well...

So, embrace it...

It's odd that people come at this, then, from two different angles.

On one hand, some people argue that we must walk in health and wellness- and that we do so by our active choices. We must eat right. Exercise. Sleep enough. Lower our stress (as much as we can!).

On the other hand, some people contend that we need miracles- that God has to offer health to us or it won't happen. In other words, we don't worry about doing anything, we just leave it in God's hands.

It seems that the first group may ignore God's power (the extreme side) and the other group, though religious, may ignore the gym (again, the extreme other side).

But, what if both groups are right? What if...

What if, first, we need to make wise decisions. What if we actually need to choose therapeuo...?

(Ahh... therapeuo... that's the word used throughout the New Testament that means "taught them to be well," as opposed to iaomai which means "miracle." We see both translated as miracle in the Bible... so we don't get the full scope of what's happening.)

That is, what if we need to choose a lifestyle of health and wellness. Yes, things like

* what we eat

* exercise

* rest

* habits that help our health rather than hinder it...

What if, at the core, these aren't just physical decisions, but also spirtual decisions? After all, this is what we were created for- by our Creator, right?

What if, also, we need the power of God to break-in and change things? After all, He's the Creator, the one who made us. Doesn't it make sense to also invite our Father to "fix" things now- with His power?

In other words, what if both groups are right?

When we break it down, we see that Jesus performed miracles; and Jesus taught people how to live well. Paul did the same- He performed instant healing (iaomai) and taught people to walk in health (therapeuo).

I'm getting ahead of myself. I'll post more about therapeuo and iaomai later. Know this, though, you were designed- created intentionally- for wellness.
