Top 7 = The problem with midday runs

top 7 Jul 24, 2023

This week I prepped for the upcoming release of our documentary, fixed an electrical issue at the house (full disclosure: hired a certified pro to fix it), and ran a few miles through the neighborhood… in the middle of the day.

Here’s the run-down…

Fitness = Midday run(s)

A few times this week I took off for a midday run.

Yes, I’m aware that it’s 95+ degrees around noon, but— to be honest— it’s about the SAME temp when I go run at 6:30/7am, by the time you factor the humidity….

So, a few days this week I woke up and decided to work / do some other things early… then use the “lunch break” for the run.

The downside is this…

(For sure, the temp is about the same.)

If you STOP to walk or take a pic or wait for traffic or any of the other legit reasons you may need to stop, it’s HARDER to get back going during the middle of the day.

It’s almost as if your body, in the heat, says, “OK, we’re doing this thing… let’s go.”

Until you “press pause.” Then, you’re done.

Finance = Testing, testing, testing…

This week, we ran a few more “tests” on the Purpose book and Soul Wholeness book— to make sure the landing pages and upsells, etc. (as well as email sequences) are working, as we prep to do some advertising.

Right now, both books are free (just pay the shipping and handling.)

Field = Prep for the documentary screenings

This week I (finally!) had the opportunity to sit and watch our entire documentary, Trauma Comes Home, in one sitting.

The first screenings of the new documentary are set for the final week of July— at the Homewood Theatre (in Soho) (Friday 28th, Saturday 29th, before going to Illinois and Ohio + other places currently being calendared).

Faith = More on Heaven

This week, I enjoyed a few more hours plodding my way through my Dad’s “pages” on Heaven— a lengthy study he put together and taught before his recent retirement. Working my way through the material was enlightening, enjoyable…

I think we’ll have something to show in the next 3 weeks or so…

Friends = Tuesday hangout

Tuesday, I spent a few catching up with Randy…

And, I got to drive the Saab convertible he picked up for a sweet price not too long ago.

Fun = Electrical panel upgrade = let’s rummage

Early in the week it became apparent we had an electrical issue in the house.

The old panel was wearing out (they do that). And, the added heat + pull on the HVAC created the perfect storm in which it was time to replace it.

I called a few guys I know to come look + give me a price. And, then we made a quick decision.

Kevin was able to come over Saturday. And, since the power needed to go out for him to do the work, Beth and I skipped out.

We ventured to Pepper Place to see the Farmer’s Market (last minute decision on the way to a coffee shop on Avondale). We stopped by Hop City. We ran bumped around to a few more places…

That’s the highlight reel for the week.

If you’re just now dropping in, each week I look back at the week behind + preview the week ahead— so I don’t miss anything— and look and highlight at least one thing for which I’m grateful in each of the 7 key areas of life…
