Teaching = making the supernatural accessible to understand + apply
From LifeLift Assessment D = Spiritual Gifts
The gift of teaching is the divine strength or ability to study and learn from the Scriptures primarily to bring understanding and depth to other Christians.
Throughout the LifeLift material we discuss teaching on several facets:
- Teaching is a created design— some people, as part of their natural make-up, have the ability to organize thoughts and ideas, then communicate them in a simple, easy-to-understand way
- Teaching is one of the five-fold offices in Ephesians 4:11-12
- Teaching is-- as we discuss here-- a supernatural gift.
Notice, it falls fifth on the list in the fist column and third in the second column.

Again, teaching is also a spiritual gift.
The primary difference between teaching as a created design and teaching as a gift is the content and results…
… as well as the purpose.
Again, this doesn’t belittle any expression of any talent, any created design, or any supernatural gift. Each are given by God in multiple ways.
Moreover, remember that a gift isn’t always “front and center.” Some of the great teachers we know are highly visible. They write books and speak at conferences. Or lead churches.
Other highly gifted teachers are leading small groups and Sunday school classes, or even serving in schools or as volunteers.
