Giving = offering resources to make an eternal impact in the present
From LifeLift Assessment D = Spiritual Gifts
The gift of giving is the divine strength or ability to produce wealth and to give by tithes and offerings for the purpose of advancing the Kingdom of God on earth.
The gift of giving doesn’t have to be a massive amount of money— that’s short-sighted to assume it does. The issue is supernatural impact.
(Jesus referenced the widow who gave 2 mites— a few cents— as the greatest giver, above the Pharisees and religious elitists who gave far more money from their vast sums of wealth.)
- Sometimes the giving comes in the form of money.
- Other times it might be property.
- Or “stuff.”
It most likely involves resources and “stuff" (tangible assets), however, which might be a helpful way to distinguish the gift from the gift of helps (which is a focus more on giving of one’s time and energy).

Note: the above distinction isn’t to minimize either gift. Remember, every part of the body is different, it is placed by God’s design, and it is desired for the greater good of all of us!
Furthermore, there is a spiritual gift of giving AND giving is also a created design. The difference is this:
- The gift functions at a supernatural level (and comes at "second / spiritual birth")
- The created design is more of a "bent" or propensity to share and give (sometimes people with the design of giving may have the gift of mercy, ministry, helps, etc.) (and comes with a person's "first / natural birth"
See the links below for more about the created design of giving.
